\nThe National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW), in collaboration with UNICEF and the British Council, successfully held the national conference. \u2018Education for Every Woman and Girl,\u2019at the Marriott Islamabad.
\nThis event was a key initiative under NCSW\u2019s National Women\u2019s Agenda – \u2018The Next Horizon\u2019, focused on addressing educational disparities faced by women and girls across Pakistan, in alignment with the Government of Pakistan\u2019s Education Emergency declaration.
\nNCSW Chairperson Nilofar Bakhtiar opened the conference with a call to action, highlighting the critical need for inclusive and equitable education. She emphasized.\u201d Secretary Ministry of Education Mohyuddin Wani reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to enhancing the educational landscape for women and girls in Pakistan.
\nThe conference was attended by representatives from provincial ministries. Their presence underscored the collective resolve to address regional educational challenges and support the empowerment of women and girls.
\nKey partners, Dr. Inoussa Kabore, Deputy Country Representative of UNICEF, and James Hampson, Country Director of the British Council, highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing barriers to education.
\nMohamed Yahya, UN Resident Coordinator, and other distinguished guests contributed their insights into advancing educational opportunities for women and girls.
\nStar of the evening was film artist Hamza Ali Abbasi who committed to remain an ambassador for the Education of women of Pakistan.
\nThe conference featured focused working group sessions on four critical themes: \u2018Addressing Barriers to Girls\u2019 Enrollment and Retention,\u2019 \u2018Creating Safe and Inclusive Schools for Girls,\u2019 \u2018Expanding Adult Literacy Opportunities for Women,\u2019 and \u2018Advancing Women in Teaching and Educational Leadership.\u2019
\nThe recommendations from these sessions include:
\nEstablish the first women\u2019s university in Gilgit-Baltistan. Expand the Benazir Taleemi Wazafi. Implement menstrual hygiene management programs. Enforce the five-year curriculum review mandated by the National Education Policy 2017-2025. Targeted Professional Development programs.
