\nDepartment of Water Resource Management, University of Agriculture, Peshawar, in collaboration with International Water Management Institute, Pakistan (IWMI), organized a one-day awareness seminar on the importance of Kabul River water among the public with the topic of
\n\u201cImpact of anthropogenic changes Kabul River water quality\u201d held here Saturday.
\nOn this occasion, Dean Faculty of Crop Production Sciences Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Khalil, Dean Faculty of Rural Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Khalid Nawab, faculty and other participants participated in large numbers.
\nChairman Department of Water Resource Management Professor Dr. Muhammad Zubair, Regional Researcher Water Modeling, IWMI Dr. Muhammad Shahid Iqbal and General Manager WSSP Peshawar Syed Zameerul Hasan said that water is essential for the survival of all living beings and our existence. Clean water is essential for every aspect, Kabul River water is a very important supply for agriculture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
\nIt irrigates large tracts of agricultural land in the province, but the water quality of the Kabul River continues to deteriorate at an alarming rate. Various sources of pollution, including toxic water from human activities such as industries and climate change, are increasingly contaminating water.
\nResidents of Charsadda, Warsak and Nowshera who live along the river are facing dire consequences as a result of this disaster.
\n\u201cYes, we hope that this awareness seminar will lead to a better understanding of the impact of climate change and human activities on the water quality of the Kabul River,\u201d the speakers said. \u201cIf we first determine the factors contributing to pollution, we can guarantee that the Kabul River will continue to serve as an important resource for generations to come,\u201d they said.
