\nThe provincial government and Akora seed company on Monday inked an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for launching a joint cooperation venture in supply quality seeds to farmers community of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nAccording to a handout, the MoU signing ceremony held at the agriculture department secretary office.
\nChief Executive Officer Muhammad Siddiq on behalf of Akora Seed Company, while Secretary Agriculture Javed Marwat on behalf of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government signed the memorandum of understanding.
\nProvincial Minister Major Retired Sajjad Barkwal participated in the ceremony as a chief guest. On this occasion, Chief Minister KP\u2019s special Assistant for Industries Abdul Karim Tordhir and senior officials of the Agriculture Department were also present.
\nWhile talking to the representatives of the seed\u2019s companies Provincial Minister Major Retired Sajjad Brakwal assured them that the government will provide all the facilities to the seeds companies in the supply of quality seeds.
\nHe further said that private seed companies have a very important role in providing quality seed. Quality seed supply is not possible without the positive role of seed companies.
\nprivate seed companies should play a role with the government to supply quality seed and prevent adulteration and illegal trading of seeds in the market.
\nOn this occasion, the representatives of the private seed companies assured the Minister Agriculture that they will play their role alongside the government against illegal business and adulteration of seeds.
\nWhile discussing the memorandum of understanding, the Minister for Agriculture said It will provide opportunities to the companies to work together with government agricultural institutions and private seed companies will benefit from innovative research.
\nSimilarly, the government and private seed companies will jointly provide farmers with modern and high-productivity sources of commodity varieties through faster methods, which will significantly increase agricultural production and farmers\u2019 income.
\nThe provincial government\u2019s priorities include increasing agricultural production and providing facilities to farmers. Appreciating and expressing the hope that such initiatives under the auspices of the provincial government will play a role in the development of agriculture, he informed the Minister of Agriculture about his problems.
