\nA new series of monsoon rains is likely to start in most districts of KP province Sunday, said a Provincial Disasters Management Authority issued here.
\nFrom Sunday night, more monsoon winds will enter the upper regions of the province from the Arabian Sea due to which Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battgram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu would receive rain with strong winds and thunder in Dera Ismail Khan.
\nThe new series of rains will continue intermittently till Wednesday, and there is also a risk of landslides in the mountainous areas of the province due to rains, the PDMA release said.
\nPDMA has issued an alert to all district administrations in view of the weather situation and directed them to pre-emptively deal with any untoward incident due to dusty winds, wind, storm and thunder.
\nThe district administration is also directed to ensure the availability of small and large machinery to deal with any unpleasant incident in advance, the release said.
\nIn case of strong winds, people should stay away from power lines, dilapidated buildings and structures, sign boards and billboards and farmers arrange their routines keeping in view the weather forecast, the release revealed.
\nTourists and local population in sensitive upper areas are instructed to take precautionary measures to be aware of weather conditions and messages to the district administration in sensitive districts should be conveyed to the local population in local languages. PDMA said.
\nIn any emergency situation, all concerned agencies should be vigilant in maintaining road links and provide alternative routes for traffic in case of road closure and tourists should be informed about the weather situation, PDMA spokesman said.
