\nThe provincial tourism department on Tuesday revealed that more than nine million tourists visited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa this season, said an official handout. The data related to tourists visiting different parts of KP was disclosed in a meeting chaired by the advisor to the chief minister for finance Muzamil Aslam.
\nThe meeting was attended by advisor tourism Zahid Chanzeb, lawmaker Iftikhar Muhammad Khan Jadoon, Rajab Ali Abbasi, secretary tourism Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan, chief planning officer tourism Syed Zain Ali Shah and others.
\nThe finance advisor was told that nine million tourists visited KP from May 1st to July this year that is 100pc more than last year.
\nSimilarly, 4.5 million tourists visited KP last year. He was further told that 2500 foreign tourists also enjoyed the cool atmosphere of the province hill stations.
\nMuzamil Aslam highly appreciated the performance of the tourism department, especially the round-the-clock efforts of tourism advisor Zahid Chanzeb in this regard.
\nHe said that the 100 percent increase in tourists and promotion of tourism is proof of the vivid improvement of law and order in KP and the tourism facilities being provided by the provincial govt provided in the province. He was informed that this year 2.6 lakh tourists have visited Swat while 3.5 lakh tourists enjoyed the serene places of Gulyat while arrivals of 2.5 lakh tourists were recorded in Chitral Kaghan.
\nBesides this, thousands of tourists enjoyed traveling and staying in so many other areas of KP.
\nAdvisor on finance was told that the proud thing is that no untoward incident has happened to 9 million tourists. However he noted with concern that few public complaints have been received about the NHA highways.
\nThese complaints, he said, will be taken up by the provincial government with the NHA high ups.
\nHe further said that our next target is to increase the number of foreign tourists over here, which will not only provide employment to the local people but also strengthen the economy of the province and the country. He said that better security arrangements and more tourism facilities will be provided to foreign tourists to make tourism in the province more attractive world over.
\nMuzamil Aslam underlined the need that all measures should be taken to make winter tourism better and unique so that tourism activities could be continued throughout the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
