Naeem says parties that are members of opposition alliance later act in self-interest, which hurts the cause

\nJamaat-e-Islami (JI) Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman has said that his party would not become part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf\u2019s (PTI) proposed grand alliance as history suggests that the opposition parties use such platforms for self-interest.
\n\u201cWe will have the same stance as the opposition parties on some issues and hold meetings with them, but we will not become part of any alliance,\u201d Naeem said during Geo News\u2019 programme \u201cCapital Talk\u201d on Thursday.
\nPTI\u2019s senior leader Asad Qaiser has said that incarcerated party founder Imran Khan gave the nod for forming a \u201cgrand opposition alliance\u201d and that they would \u201cgather all opposition parties to run a powerful anti-government movement\u201d.
\nThe PTI leader also said that they support JI\u2019s sit-in against the massive hike in power bills.
\nThe JI is also holding protests and is on the streets against inflated electricity bills and high taxes. The government is engaging with the party to address its concerns in a bid to end its Rawalpindi sit-in.
\nIn his conversation with \u201cCapital Talk\u2019s\u201d host Hamid Mir, the JI emir said that parties, which are members of an opposition alliance, later act in their self-interest, which hurts the cause.
\n\u201cThe government also thinks that we came here for a day or two, but let me tell them: we will not leave until our demands are met,\u201d Hafiz Naeem, who was appointed as JI\u2019s top leader in April, said.
\nNaeem lamented that the government\u2019s \u201clack of seriousness\u201d is seen in the negotiations, however, his party conveyed its concerns in the best way possible.
\n\u201cThe government officials requested us to end the sit-in but we asked them to show us the IPPs\u2019 (Independent Power Producers) contracts,\u201d he said.
\n\u201cWe believe there is something dubious in the IPPs\u2019 contracts,\u201d said the JI chief, asserting that his party will continue to hold sit-ins if their demands are not met.
\nHafiz Naeem reiterated that keeping in view the past experiences, his party will not be a part of any alliance; however, it will do whatever it can to provide relief to the masses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
