Erdogan advocates for a more equitable Security Council, supporting broader global representation

\nTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has strongly endorsed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres\u2019 recent remarks on reforming the Security Council, emphasizing the need for a more equitable global system that includes African representation.
\nIn a statement addressing Guterres\u2019 X post, Erdogan said: \u201cThe structure of UN Security Council, which is far from fulfilling its duty to ensure global peace and security, must be changed fundamentally.\u201d
\nErdogan\u2019s comments came after Guterres\u2019 statement, saying: \u201cThe Security Council was designed by the victors of World War II. The world has changed. The world has changed but the composition of the Council has not kept pace.\u201d
\n\u201cExpressing your views sincerely and loudly about the need for the United Nations Security Council to undergo reform in alignment with current conditions and in a fair manner is very valuable for the world to have a just system again,\u201d Erdogan said.
\nPledging T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s continued support for establishing a fair international system, he said: \u201cWe will continue to stand by all friends who strive for a fair international system and a UN Security Council that meets today\u2019s conditions.\u201d
