\nSarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fuad Ishaq rejected imposition of fixed tax on traders and asked the government to immediately take back its decision.
\nOtherwise, he said SCCI along with traders\u2019 community will force on protest against unjust taxes.
\nFuad Ishaq was speaking during a protest camp of Peshawar\u2019 saddar traders against fixed tax imposed by the Federal Board of Revenue here on Thursday.
\nAccompanied by SCCI\u2019 senior vice president Sanaullah Khan, vice president Ejaz Khan Afridi, former vice president Javed Akthar, Tajir Itehad President Mujeebur Rehman, Faiz Rasool, Saddar Gul, Fazl e Wahid, the chamber\u2019 president Fuad Ishaq visited the traders protest camp.
\nThe traders hoisted banners with noted voices \u2018Unacceptable unjust taxes\u2019, \u2018Unacceptable Tajir Dost Scheme\u2019 and \u2018Give peace and get taxes\u2019.
\nThe protesting traders also hoisted black flags in camp and raised slogans in favour of their demands.
\nFuad Ishaq said that today, traders are on protest owing to wrong policies of the government, adding that SCCI had presented budget proposals, which were yet not being implemented, which is highly regrettable.
\nThe SCCI chief called Pakistan\u2019s tax system as outdated, asking for enforcement of the tax system on the pattern of the UAE by altering the prevailing Australian Tax system.
\nTraders are the backbone of country\u2019 economy, and they want to give taxes but imposition of unjust taxes is unacceptable, which should be withdrawn immediately, Fuad said.
\nHe continued to say that the business community is in great trouble owing to wrong policies.
\nThe SCCI chief emphasized taking pragmatic steps to put affairs in the right direction.
\nOtherwise, he clarified that protest\/strike of the traders will damage the economy.
\nFuad Ishaq said SCCI was proactively taking up traders\u2019 issues with relevant authorities at provincial and central level.
\nHe said the chamber had already rejected additional taxation measures through budget 2024-25.
