PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) central spokesperson Engineer Ihsan has welcomed the Punjab government\u2019s initiative to provide a subsidy on electricity bills to its people and demanded a similar package from the provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. With a smaller population, the KP government can easily provide a subsidy of Rs10 billion, questioning why it cannot do so when Punjab can provide Rs15 billion. The ANP holds the PTI government responsible for its inaction, plagued by corruption and personal matters, and demands that all political parties unite to pressure the government to provide relief in the electricity bills. The party calls on the provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to engage with the federal government to adjust electricity prices according to production costs and question the fuel surcharge collection from the province. The ANP vows to raise its voice for every member of society who is a victim of exploitation and deprived of their rights, spokesperson said. It is pertinent to mention here that the ANP president had warned that if electricity price was not reduced in KP in a month, they would organise a protest march to Islamabad.
