PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority has strongly refuted rumors circulating on social media about the alleged discovery of dog meat in hotels in province, dismissing them as baseless and fabricated. According to a spokesperson for the Food Authority, a post has been making rounds on social media, falsely claiming that during raids on various hotels in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, dog meat was seized. The authority, however, has categorically denied these allegations, calling them a deliberate attempt to mislead the public. APP
\nThe spokesperson clarified that no such incident of dog meat being found or served at any hotel or restaurant in the province has ever occurred. The authority labeled the claims as a ploy to create fear among the public and to tarnish the reputation of the food industry.
\nDirector General of the KP Food Authority Wasif Saeed appealed to the public not to pay heed to such false reports. He urged citizens to rely only on verified information provided by the authority.
\nSaeed further assured that the Food Authority\u2019s inspection teams conduct regular inspection at hotels and restaurants across the province to ensure the provision of safe and quality food to the public. He also expressed concern that certain ill minded elements intentionally spread such baseless rumors to instill panic among citizens and harm the food industry.
\nThe DG reiterated the authority\u2019s commitment to maintaining food safety and standards in the province, emphasizing that they are fully aware of their responsibilities and are taking all necessary measures to safeguard public health.
