\nMy name is Azhar Ahmed, and I am from Swat, often called the Switzerland of Pakistan. While the beauty of our region is hard to capture in words, another dream has given my life a special meaning: table tennis. It was back in 2003 when we started our journey with this sport in a small room. At that time, there was a significant lack of proper facilities for table tennis, but we had a dream and the determination to achieve it.
\nOur journey began humbly, but we found our first success in a young player named Rameez Khan. Through his hard work and the training we provided, Rameez soon emerged as an international table tennis player. His achievement filled us with pride and convinced us that the youth of Swat have immense talent, which only needs the right training and guidance to flourish.
\nFoundation of the Academy and Player Development
\nAfter Rameez Khan\u2019s success, we were inspired to expand this dream further. In 2012, we established our first Table Tennis Academy. The foundation of this academy was built on our love for the sport, our passion, and our hard work, with the goal of bringing young players to the forefront. From this academy, players like Shah Khan, Basit Ali, Jamal, and Abbas emerged. They proved their skills not only at the local level but also became a source of pride for the entire nation.
\nToday, our academy has introduced around 9 to 10 new players. Among them are promising talents like Abdul and Noor Khan, who have the potential to become the best table tennis players in the future. These players are not just the pride of Swat, but they also hold the promise of elevating Pakistan\u2019s name on the international stage.
\nLack of Government Support and the Spirit of Self-Reliance
\nThroughout this journey, we have received no financial or moral support from the government. However, this did not deter us from our mission. I chose to keep this academy running with the help of our community and our own resources. I even sold my land, worth around three crore rupees, to build this academy. It was a significant step, but it felt like a small sacrifice in comparison to the dreams of our youth that were waiting to be realized.
\nA Journey of Success Amidst Challenges
\nWe are proud to have established a table tennis academy in a region like Swat, providing our youth the chance to realize their dreams. Our academy\u2019s objective is not just to train the players physically but also to make them mentally resilient, so they are prepared to face any challenge on the field. We are committed to showcasing the talent of Swat\u2019s youth, not only within Pakistan but also on international platforms.
\nThe Beauty of Swat and the Love for Table Tennis
\nWe are grateful to Allah for creating us in such a beautiful area as Swat. The stunning landscapes, fresh air, and natural beauty here have only strengthened our athletes\u2019 determination. When our players step onto the playing field, they carry with them the love for this beautiful region and the passion to represent it. This natural beauty serves as a source of motivation and strength for our athletes to excel in their game and bring honor to the country.
\nFuture Directions and Expectations
\nLooking ahead, we plan to further expand our academy to provide training of international standards to the youth in Swat. Our dream is that our players will bring fame to Pakistan not just nationally, but also globally. We hope the government will support us in this mission and recognize this academy as a national asset, allowing it to become a significant platform for the youth of Pakistan.
\nThis academy is not just a building; it is a dream, a passion, and a mission. I am grateful to Allah for guiding us to this point, and our academy is now playing a crucial role in preparing local and international players. This story is an inspiration not only for me but for anyone who wishes to make their dreams come true, no matter the difficulties they face.
