\nThe Center for Governance and Public Accountability (CGPA) has identified significant legislative gaps impeding the registration of women\u2019s chambers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nAddressing the launch of the Advisory Committee for the National Network of Economic Think Tanks (NNETT), KP Chapter, organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI), CGPA Program Manager Khalfan Khattak stressed the urgent need for provincial legislation for women\u2019s chamber following the 18th Constitutional Amendment.
\nThe event focused on key issues surrounding economic policy reforms and women\u2019s empowerment in KP.
\nKhattak emphasized that the existing legislative framework is inadequate, hindering the effective registration and operation of women\u2019s chambers in the province.
\nHe called for prompt action to address these gaps, ensuring a conducive environment for women\u2019s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship in KP.
\n\u201cThe lack of adequate regulations has created significant obstacles for female entrepreneurs in KP, particularly in obtaining national tax numbers for small and local enterprises. The inability to obtain national tax numbers denies them access to essential services, credit facilities, and government support, stifling their entrepreneurial potential,\u201d CGPA Program Manager lamented.
\nCGPA is currently under CIPE funded project engaged with five district chambers namely, Peshawar, Charsadda, Mardan, Lower Dir and Abbott abad providing capacity-building support and helping address these challenges.
\nTo further facilitate the registration process, Mr Khattak proposed the establishment of regional registration and facilitation centers within federal directorates or Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) offices.
\nParticipants stressed the importance of inclusive policies and tangible support for female entrepreneurs to foster sustainable economic growth in the province.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
