\nKhyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), successfully concluded a two-day workshop on advancing quality in higher education institutions (HEIs).
\nThe event, held at KMU Senate Hall, focused on implementing the Pakistan Standard Guidelines (PSG-2023) and addressed key areas such as the Review of Institutional Performance and Enhancement (RIPE), the Institutional Performance Enhancement Report (IPER), the roles of Quality Enhancement Cells (QECs) and Data-Driven Performance Analytics for Quality Assurance.
\nThe workshop was organized by Director HEC Agha Raza, Deputy Director HEC Wajid Ali, and Pir Qasim from HEC, the workshop aimed to provide HEIs\/QE Directorates with essential tools and knowledge to effectively apply the PSG-2023 guidelines.
\nThe goal was to promote a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. The workshop attracted QAA officers, deans, principals, directors, and heads of QECs from both public and private universities across the region.
\nDr. Nasir Shah, Director of the HEC Regional Center Peshawar, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in transforming the educational system.
\nHe highlighted that pooling resources and expertise from various stakeholders could lead to impactful educational models tailored to local needs.
\nDr. Aasiya Bukhari, Director of QEC KMU, underscored the workshop\u2019s focus on enhancing institutional practices and adherence to national quality standards. She noted that creating effective IPERs would significantly strengthen the capacity of educational institutions.
\nMr. Asif Hussain, Director of QAA HEC, reiterated the value of collaboration among educational stakeholders in improving quality. He discussed how adopting successful global strategies could elevate educational standards and drive societal progress.
\nProf. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Vice Chancellor of KMU, highlighted the critical role of QECs in enhancing the quality of HEIs throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nHe encouraged participants to utilize the insights gained from the workshop to drive innovation and address the evolving demands of modern higher education. KMU has emerged as a leading center for quality assurance in higher education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will continue to play a crucial role in upholding and advancing high educational standards in the region, he added.
\nThe event concluded with a call for continued collaboration and innovation to ensure that the educational system not only meets but exceeds expectations. Certificates were distributed amongst participants of the workshop by Prof Dr. Zia Ul Haq, Prof. Dr. Shafiq Ur Rehman Advisor Quality Assurance HED, and Dr. Nasir Shah and Dr. Aasiya Bukhari.
