\nProvincial minister for food, Zahir Shah Toru, has stated that efforts were underway to digitize the operations of the food department to eliminate corruption and ensure transparency.
\n\u201cThe aim is to move away from the outdated system,\u201d he said and added that through digitization, the transportation and storage of wheat will be improved, benefiting the public as well.
\nHe expressed these views during inspections of wheat warehouses in Drosh and Bumburet on the first day of his four-day visit to Lower and Upper Chitral, as well as Upper and Lower Dir districts.
\nThe provincial minister stated that wheat distribution centers in remote districts will be provided with internet and mobile services to ensure they can carry out their operations efficiently.
\nUpon the arrival of the Provincial Minister for Food in Lower Chitral, officials from the food department and district administration welcomed him. The minister inspected wheat warehouses and assessed the quality of the wheat in Drosh and Bumburet. During the visit, he was briefed on the situation and informed that, for the first time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s history, wheat has been procured from Chitral.
\nDuring the briefing, the Provincial Minister was told that 12,000 metric tons of wheat were purchased during the last procurement drive, and there is no imported wheat stored in these warehouses. The Minister inspected the wheat stocks in Drosh and Bumburet, taking samples with him for further assessment. He also gathered details about the storage and transportation of wheat and listened to the issues faced by the food department\u2019s staff.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, the provincial minister for Food stated that the entire system is being digitized to ensure transparency and streamline the delivery of services within the food department. As part of this process, wheat warehouses will be equipped with internet and mobile services to enable them to operate according to modern standards.
