Education leads to innovations, crucial for country\u2019s economic growth: Governor Kundi
\n ISLAMABAD
\nGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday emphasized that the people of the province are united in their desire to eliminate extremism and restore peace in the region.
\nHe expressed his deep appreciation for the peace-loving nature of the province\u2019s people during a tribute ceremony for martyred police constable Burhan Ali, who was died in a terrorist attack in Malam Jabba recently.
\nSpeaking at the local hotel here, Governor Faisal Kundi emphasized that the protection of citizens\u2019 lives and property is the government\u2019s foremost duty and responsibility.
\nThe ceremony, hosted by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, was attended by Governor Kundi along with ambassadors and high commissioners from 14 countries, as well as other senior officials.
\nFamily members of the late constable were also specially invited to the event.
\nHe reflected on the collective sorrow felt by the nation following the attack on a convoy of foreign diplomats, which had deeply affected the community.
\nHe particularly honored Constable Burhan Ali for sacrificing his life while safeguarding international guests.
\nDuring the gathering, diplomats from Azerbaijan, Iran, Portugal, Bosnia, Ethiopia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe, Tajikistan, Indonesia, and Rwanda presented a jointly signed condolence letter to Burhan Ali\u2019s family, expressing their heartfelt sympathy and honoring the bravery he displayed in fulfilling his duties.
\nIn his remarks, Governor Kundi thanked the ambassadors for acknowledging Constable Burhan Ali\u2019s sacrifice and for showing solidarity with the families of the martyrs.
\nHe said that this gesture from friendly nations highlights the recognition of the sacrifices made by the people, police, and security forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the fight against terrorism. Kundi promised to invite the diplomats to the Governor House in Peshawar soon to showcase the true spirit of hospitality and peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nHe concluded by recognizing the sacrifices made by the public and police alongside other security forces in the ongoing battle against terrorism.
\nMeanwhile, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi underscored education leads to innovations and scientific advancements, which are crucial for a country\u2019s economic growth.
\nHe highlighted the vital role of education in the development and prosperity of a nation.
\nHe said this during fourth General Council meeting of the Pakistan Chamber of Education here at a local hotel.
\nGovernor Kundi said that education as a guiding light that imparts awareness and knowledge, enabling educated nations to understand and address their challenges effectively.
\nDuring the event, the Governor took the oath of office for the newly elected members of the Pakistan Chamber of Education\u2019s cabinet.
\nPresident of the Chamber, Hafiz Muhammad Basharat, informed Governor Kundi about the organization\u2019s efforts in the educational sector.
\nThe Governor pointed out the significant educational deprivation in rural areas, noting that many children remain uneducated due to unfavorable conditions.
\nHe said that a substantial portion of the national budget is allocated to education and health, with the private sector also playing a vital role. However, he lamented that the country has yet to achieve its educational targets.
\nKundi called for valuable suggestions and services from organizations like the Chamber to support government initiatives.
\nHe expressed hope that collective efforts could elevate the country\u2019s educational standards to match those of developed nations.
\nFurthermore, he criticized past dictatorships for banning student unions, saying that only Sindh has lifted that ban.
