\nChief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has refused to give more adjournment in intra party election review case due to absence of PTI lawyers from hearing remarking dilatory tactics are being used.
\nThe CJP further remarked they want headlines but Supreme Court (SC) will not give them any such headline.
\nIntra Party Election review case came up for hearing before a 3-member bench of SC presided over by CJP Qazi Faez Isa Friday.
\nNo lawyer from PTI side appeared in the court.
\nAhmad Hassan counsel for Akbar S Babar said application for adjournment has come from advocate Hamid Khan.
\nThe CJP while moving to counsel for Akbar S Babar remarked \u201c read paragraph No 2 of application for adjournment. Paragraph regarding the family engagement of Hamid Khan was read.
\nThe CJP remarked this is application for some novel adjournment. Application of such nature has not been seen before. This case was to be fixed for hearing in proposed cause list of May 29. There was application from advocate Ali Zafar for general adjournment till June 4. Open heart surgery of one member of bench took place.
\nHe further remarked the drum beaters made the intra party election case as case of election symbol of bat. The drum beaters should read court\u2019s decision first and then criticize it. They should go out side and make propaganda but should not come to court. It is appropriate.
\nCJP Qazi Faez Isa remarked I have not seen such application ever before wherein adjournment was sought due to family engagements. Adjournment is sought due to death or ill health.
\nJustice Muhammad Ali Mazhar inquired barrister Ali Zafar had given arguments in this case.
\nThe CJP remarked it never happens so anywhere in the world that date or bench be sought of one\u2019s own sweet will. We cannot enact a separate law for any one. All right they should not run if they don\u2019t want to run the case for ten years.
\nHe remarked now legal right is there for changing the lawyer in review petition. It is clear dilatory tactics are being used. They wanted headline but SC will not give them such headline.
\nThe court issued order in respect of today\u2019s hearing.
\nThe order said advocate Hamid Khan gave application for adjournment through advocate on record Anees Muhammad Shahzad where in mention was made about family engagement. Only this was mentioned in the application there is family engagement. What is engagement has not been told. Advocate on record did not appear too. Niaz Ullah Niazi, Ajmal Toor and Barrister Gohar are too counsels in this case, If Hamid Khan was not available then some one else could appear.
\nNo adjournment will be given in the case in future. Keeping in view the norms of justice hearing is adjourned.
