LAHORE
\nGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, on Sunday met with the former President of Maldives, Muhammad Waheed Hassan, and Professor Rohan Gunaratna after the closing ceremony of the 7th International Conference on Global Religions held at Minhaj University Lahore.
\nThe meeting was attended by Khurram Nawaz Gandapur, the Chief Organizer of Minhaj-ul-Quran International.
\nDuring the meeting, Governor Kundi emphasized the importance of cooperation between Pakistan and the Maldives in the fields of tourism and education.
\nThe Governor highlighted the vast tourism potential in Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which includes religious, cultural, recreational, and adventure tourism.
\nThe discussion noted that tourism plays a crucial role in the Maldivian economy and that both countries could benefit from collaboration in this sector by leveraging Pakistan\u2019s tourist resources.
\nKundi also stressed the need to enhance educational cooperation, inviting the former president to establish connections between universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and educational institutions in the Maldives. This includes student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, vocational training, technical skills sharing, and online education programs.
\nSuch educational ties, he said, would create new opportunities for youth and contribute to building a strong and stable Pakistan.
\nWhile conversing with Professor Gunaratna, Governor Kundi addressed the serious security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its implications for national security.
\nIn response, Professor Gunaratna proposed the establishment of \u201cHarmony Centers\u201d in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which would offer professional, recreational, and educational opportunities alongside psychological support for young people.
