\nThe spokesperson of the provincial government Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif on Wednesday highlighted the enduring nature of crime within societies and emphasized the importance of proactive crime prevention.
\n\u201cThere is no society where crime has completely disappeared,\u201d he noted, pointing out that new social developments continuously introduce new types of crime.
\nAddressing the three-day National Criminology Conference at the University of Peshawar, Barrister Saif underscored the necessity of effective measures for crime prevention, stating, \u201cSuccessful societies are those that take comprehensive and effective actions against crime.\u201d
\nHe expressed regret over the lack of an efficient accountability system in Pakistan and remarked, \u201cIt is concerning that experts are often not consulted during the legislative process.
\nLaws are introduced abruptly, leaving the public unaware of their origin and intent.\u201d
\nDiscussing constitutional changes, Barrister Saif expressed concerns about the 26th constitutional amendment, criticizing the lack of deliberation and consultation in its implementation.
\nThis, he noted, poses significant challenges to the legislative process.
\nWhile speaking to journalists, Saif criticized the current federal and Punjab governments, stating that they do not adequately represent public interests.
\n\u201cTheir primary focus seems to be on satisfying those who brought them to power rather than addressing public welfare,\u201d he added.
\nSaif acknowledged the region\u2019s law and order challenges but emphasized the commitment of local police and law enforcement agencies in combating terrorism. \u201cOur struggle against terrorism will continue under any circumstances,\u201d he affirmed.
\nThe conference was attended by notable figures, including Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar, Professor Dr. Qazi Naeem; Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Johar Ali; Provincial Ombudsperson for Anti-Harassment, Rukhshinda Naz; and Secretary of Tourism, Dr. Bakhtiar, among others, who also addressed the participants.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
