ISLAMABAD
\nGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi during a meeting on Monday with James Hampson, the Country Director of the British Council in Pakistan, and the Head of Education at the British Council, reiterated his commitment to advancing education and skills development in the province.
\nThe Governor outlined his priorities, including enhancing the quality of education, empowering youth and women through skill training programs, and forging partnerships between universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and their counterparts in England. These collaborations aim to bring global expertise to KP universities through student and faculty exchanges.
\nA key topic of discussion was the Governor\u2019s vision for the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) KP chapter, which he presides over.
\nThe Governor emphasized the importance of innovative initiatives and expanding its reach for community service.
\nHe also highlighted the immense potential of arts and design talent among university students in KP, particularly young women, and shared that a formal proposal for collaboration with the British Council on this initiative had already been sent.
\nJames Hampson shared the British Council\u2019s plans to establish a high-tech Skills Development Centre for Excellence at IM Sciences University, Peshawar.
\nHe invited the Governor to inaugurate the centre in January 2025.
\nThe British Council team also briefed the Governor on the recently launched \u201cGOAL\u201d program, aimed at enrolling 250,000 out-of-school girls in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including merged districts.
\nThey also discussed other impactful programs, including TVET (Technical and Vocational Education Training) and higher education initiatives being implemented across Pakistan.
\nBoth sides agreed to collaborate further for the progress and empowerment of the youth of KP and decided to convene a follow-up meeting soon to formalize upcoming programs.
\nGovernor Kundi, Boxer \u2018Falcon\u2019 Waseem discusses hosting international championship
\nGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, in a meeting here on Monday with renowned Pakistani boxer Muhammad Waseem, popularly known as \u2018Falcon,\u2019 discussed the prospect of bringing an international lightweight boxing championship to Pakistan.
\nDuring the meeting, Waseem, who has a professional record of 13 wins, including 9 knockouts, and 2 losses, expressed his ambition to host a world-class boxing event in Pakistan.
\nHe commended Governor Kundi for his dedication to promoting sports and supporting athletes in the region.
\nGovernor Kundi assured Waseem of his full support, stating, \u201cGovernor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s office is committed to fostering sports and providing platforms for our athletes to showcase their talents. We will facilitate and lead efforts to host the international championship in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.\u201d
\nThis initiative aligns with the Governor\u2019s ongoing efforts to promote human resource development in the field of sports and athletics.
\nGovernor Kundi emphasized the importance of adopting international standards in sports to compete with advanced nations.
