{"id":446980,"date":"2024-12-03T08:48:25","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T03:48:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=446980"},"modified":"2024-12-03T08:48:25","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T03:48:25","slug":"bill-moved-to-amend-universities-law","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/bill-moved-to-amend-universities-law\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill moved to amend universities law"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DLP Report<br \/>\nPESHAWAR<br \/>\nThe government on Monday moved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa University Amendment Bill 2024 in the provincial assembly.<br \/>\nThe bill was moved by provincial law minister Aftab Alam.<br \/>\nThe bill proposes significant changes to the University Act 2012, including shifting administrative authority and revising key governance mechanisms within universities in the province.<br \/>\nThe bill proposed the Chief Minister as chancellor of provincial universities replacing the governor, giving the provincial executive more direct control over university affairs.<br \/>\nAs per the bill proposed a four tenure for newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) and if the VC\u2019s performance falls below 65pc by the second year, their term will end prematurely.<br \/>\nHowever, satisfactory performance will allow them to complete their tenure.<br \/>\nThe bill also proposed removal of the restriction of the VC being selected solely from KP, opening up the position to candidates from across the country.<br \/>\nAs per the bill, if a university has fewer than three professors, a Pro Vice Chancellor will be appointed from the tenured professors.
