\nA significant consultative meeting held here on Wednesday in Peshawar under the organization of the Sustainable Development Organization (SPO), aiming to address climate change challenges and promote public awareness.
\nScholars, madrasah teachers, environmental experts, civil society representatives, and government officials participated in the meeting.
\nThe primary goal was to develop a comprehensive action plan for climate change mitigation through places of worship and madrasas.
\nSPO Regional Manager Fazal Ghafoor Khan emphasized that places of worship and madrasas are critical avenues for spreading environmental consciousness, asserting, \u201cThey are the best sources of reform in our society, and from here, we can effectively disseminate messages of environmental stewardship and natural resource conservation.
\nClimate change is a collective issue, and unity among social and religious forces is vital.\u201d
\nMufti Mansoori spoke on the religious aspect, stating, \u201cReligion instructs us to protect the natural system, and in today\u2019s world, it is our collective responsibility to take action against the dangers of climate change.
\nRaising awareness is key.\u201d
\nSahibzada Haider Jan, representative of the Awqaf Department, highlighted the department\u2019s readiness to involve mosques and madrasas in environmental initiatives.
\n\u201cThis is not just a religious responsibility but also an extension of our social duty,\u201d he said.
\nJamal Nasir from the Forestry Department emphasized the importance of a plantation drive.
\nHe suggested, \u201cWe can significantly improve the natural environment by planting trees around places of worship and madrasas. Our department will provide all necessary support.\u201d
\nCommunity representative Fateh Naz acknowledged the essential role of religious leaders in public awareness, commending the inclusion of places of worship and madrasas in the environmental
\nThe forum recommended that special environmental protection sessions should be organized in synagogues and madrasas, environmental topics should be incorporated into the madrasah curriculum, plantation campaign should be tied to places of worship and madrasas. A public awareness campaign should be initiated for water conservation and forest promotion,it added.
\nSPO and the KP Auqaf Department jointly announced the launch of climate protection programs through places of worship and madrasas in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
