PESHAWAR
\nPolice have filed a case following a complaint from a government employee who claimed that activists of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) threatened him and demanded extortion money.
\nThe complainant, Yasir Farid, resident of Hayatabad, who works in the Establishment department in Peshawar, alleged that between November 17 and November 25, 2024, he received multiple threatening calls and WhatsApp messages. These messages, sent from international numbers based, which he claimed, in Afghanistan, demanded money and threatened severe consequences, including harm to him and his family, if the demands were not met.
\nPolice have registered a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 387 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Pakistan Penal Code, along with provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act.
\nThe investigation is being led by Hayatabad Police Station, with efforts focused on tracing the origins of the threats and apprehending those responsible.
