Islamabad (PR): Preston University organized a Literary Reference in memory of late Zahid Malik, Editor \u2013in-Chief of daily Pakistan Observer. The Reference was held at the Islamabad Campus of Preston University. The Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan joined hands with Preston University to organize the event. Eminent among the speakers who vent their views on the life and achievements of the late icon of journalism and analyst Zahid Malik were former Secretary General Foreign Affairs, Mr. Akram Zaki, Dr. Shoaib Suddle, former Federal Tax Ombudsman of Pakistan, Vice Admiral (R) Ahmad Tasneem and Mr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Chairman Archaeological and Historical Association of Pakistan. Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik, Editor Pakistan Observer presided over the event. Gauhar Zahid Malik, Executive Editor Pakistan was also preset on the occasion.
\nHighlighting the achievements and contributions of late Zahid Malik on the occasion, Mr. Akram Zaki, former Secretary General Foreign Affairs said Zahid Malik was a Pakistani down to the core. He has left behind a valuable legacy in the shape of Mazameen-e-Quran, Aiwan-e-Quaid, Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) and above all Pakistan Observer, a leading English Daily that always very courageously stood for the cause of Islam, Pakistan and Kashmir. Another great contribution by Zahid Malik was the founding of 101 Friends of China, said Akram Zaki, Akram Zaki said.
\nGauhar Zahid Malik, Executive Editor Pakistan Observer and son of late Zahid Malik shared how Pakistan and interests of Pakistan always remained supreme in his father\u2019s life until his last day. He said, \u201cWhatever my father said and did reflected his immense love and deep regard for the country\u201d.In his brief remarks, Dr. Shoaib Suddle, former Federal Tax Ombudsman of Pakistan said Zahid Malik had set up a small office even in Beijing hospital where he was under treatment, and worked in the same way that he did here in Pakistan. This, he said, showed how devoted he was towards his work.
\nSpeaking of the occasion, Dr. Ghazanfar Mehdi, Chairman Archaeological and historical Association of Pakistan highlighted some of the achievements of Zahid Malik\u2019s stint first at the Information Ministry and then at the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
\nHe said the role played by Zahid Malik as the Director General of the Pakistan National Centres, across the country, was a hallmark of his career. Dr Mehdi paid glowing tribute to Zahid Malik\u2019s wife Rehana Malik, who, he said, complemented her husband\u2019s life in all respects.
\nHe also profoundly eulogized Sadia Zahid Malik, daughter of late Zahid Malik who, he said, inherits her father\u2019s journalistic qualities and is carrying forward his mission through her weekly magazine Social Diary.
