\nThe Apex Committee has decided to remove all bunkers and heavy weapons from Kurram district as part of efforts to restore peace in the district.
\nThe decision was made in a special meeting of the Apex Committee held here on Thursday with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in the chair.
\nAccording to an official statement issued by the CM\u2019s secretariat stated that the meeting was attended by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Peshawar Corps Commander Lt Gen Omar Ahmed Bukhari, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur and other senior civil and military officials.
\nThe forum reviewed the ongoing security situation in Kurram, said the statement.
\nDuring the discussions, the provincial government\u2019s measures to maintain peace in the district were evaluated, and updates were provided on the progress of the Grand Jirga.
\nThe Apex Committee concluded that sustainable peace in Kurram could not be achieved without the removal of bunkers and heavy weaponry, marking a significant step in the region\u2019s security strategy.
\nThe Apex Committee has emphasized that lasting peace in Kurram district can only be achieved by eliminating bunkers and collecting weapons from the region.
\nThe committee\u2019s decision, made during a special meeting, highlighted the ongoing difficulties that will persist until these security measures are fully implemented, though they expect the situation to improve thereafter.
\nThe committee agreed that both the federal and provincial governments must work together to take joint steps to address the security situation. As part of these efforts, talks will be held with local communities through the Elders\u2019 Jirga.
\nInterior Minister Mohsin Naqvi assured the Chief Minister KP of full cooperation from the federal government to ensure peace in Kurram, calling it a top priority. He also mentioned the federal government\u2019s commitment to supporting the capacity building of law enforcement agencies in the province.
\nThe Apex Committee also discussed ongoing efforts to withdraw weapons from local residents to prevent future conflicts.
\nIt was noted that once the security situation stabilizes, roads and routes in the area will be reopened, and the supply of essential goods, including medicines, will continue without disruption.
\nIn addition to Kurram, the meeting reviewed the law and order situation in Khyber district and Janikhel.
