PESHAWAR
\nAn in-camera sitting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the security situation prevailing in the province was held on Tuesday.
\nKP Assembly speaker Babar Saleem Swati chaired the meeting which was attended by provincial ministers, parliamentary leaders of the opposition.
\nDuring the meeting, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, briefed the members on the current law and order situation in the province.
\nHe highlighted the performance of the police and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), as well as provided insights into the formations of militants and the Action Aid process.
\nAfter the meeting, Speaker Swati emphasized that reviewing law and order was a top priority, given that KP holds the status of a \u201cbuffer province.\u201d
\nHe mentioned that, in addition to the police briefing, the assembly would soon receive a briefing from the Corps Commander Peshawar, which would inform future actions.
\nSwati also expressed that the in-camera meeting helped foster dialogue, particularly involving opposition members, and he looked forward to resolving the issues through collective efforts.
\nOpposition lawmaker and PPP leader Ahmed Karim Kundi praised the Speaker for including the opposition in the discussions, emphasizing the public\u2019s demand for protection and expressing hope that such meetings would contribute to solutions.
\nHe also highlighted the Speaker\u2019s past success in addressing issues during the Pashtun Tahafuz Jirga by forming a committee to resolve conflicts amicably.
\nThe IG-KP , speaking to the media, confirmed that the meeting had been productive, with a detailed discussion on the prevailing law and order situation in the province.
