\nThe representatives of the Ahle Sunnat wal Jamaat (ASWJ) have demanded action against armed groups and terrorists in conflict-hit Kurram.
\nAddressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC), Anjuman Farooqia District Kurram General Secretary Imran expressed strong support for the decision made by the provincial government for maintaining peace in the district and called for its swift implementation.
\nThe demanded operations against armed groups, terrorists, and illegal weapons and immediate resettlement of persons expelled from the district, and action against those spreading hate speech on social media and challenging government authority.
\nThe representatives of the ASWJ including Malik Haji Rahim Gul Mangal, Major Abdul Rehman, Dr Abdul Karim Mangal, National Committee member, and Malik Munawar Khan, provided a grim overview of the ongoing conflict in Kurram.
\nThey highlighted the displacement of 3,000 Sunni families from Parachinar, the suffering of women, children, and the elderly, and the destruction of mosques and homes.
\nThe community leaders criticized the provincial government\u2019s inaction during these tragedies, accusing it of failing to provide assistance, even in the form of helicopters, while houses and markets were set ablaze.
\nThey also condemned the attack on October 12 in Kunj Alizai, an area of the district Kurram, which led to the martyrdom of women, children, and religious scholars.
\nThe leaders pointed out that the road had remained blocked for 40 days, and despite repeated jirgas and agreements, the Shia community had violated the terms without facing any government action.
\nThe elders emphasized that the issue in Kurram was not a land dispute but a matter of sectarian violence, warning that the unrest, if unchecked, could spread beyond Kurram district.
\nThey called on the KP government to take urgent steps to prevent sectarianism from destabilizing other districts of the country and to deliver justice to the affected families in Kurram.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
