\nPESHAWAR
\nA session titled \u201cFamily Planning 2030: Legislation and Policy Making\u201d was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat.
\nThe session, which focused on shaping policies and legislation for family planning in the province, was presided over by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati. Deputy Speaker Suria Bibi also attended the session. The participants of the session discussed the future of family planning policy and the legislative framework in the province.
\nMPAs Taj Tarand, Muhammad Naeem, Ajmal Khan, Muhammad Nasar Baz, Dr. Muhammad Israr, Mehboob Sher, Abdul Ghani, Zar Alam Khan, Nilogar Babar, Rehana Ismail, Abdul Qabar Khan, and Hamid Ur Rehman. Deliberations across the issues of the family planning, legislative frameworks, and approaches of effective policymaking with a view to raising awareness especially in rural populace.
\nOther matters also highlighted the ill effects of early marriages, emphasis being made on the increasing maternal casualty and rapid growth of population which make the socio-economic conditions more complicated.
\nSpeaker Babar Saleem Swati addressed the gathering and pointed out that the country was lagging behind satisfactory progress regarding existing efforts of different bodies to manage population growth.
\nSuch laws are outmoded and cumbersome; meanwhile, institutional corruption has rendered them ineffective. He mentioned how international organizations that offer assistance are dissuaded by the inefficiencies of the system at large.
\nTo channel the collaborative efforts, Speaker Swati asked Syed Waqar Shah, Special Secretary of the Provincial Assembly, to invite the concerned minister and secretary in the next meeting. This step would give way to holistic and actionable strategies in managing population-related issues.
\nThe Speaker also expressed the necessity of a systematic and effective way of harnessing human resources throughout the districts, which aptly calls for a concerted and rapid approach to these urgent needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
