\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif has strongly condemned the recent amendments to the PreventionI of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) describing them as a direct assault on the freedom of the press.
\nIn a statement, he accused the government of using these new laws to conceal its wrongdoings and restrict media freedom.
\nMr Saif further criticized the government for undermining judicial independence through the 26th Amendment, claiming that no institution under the current administration is safe from its attacks. He compared the level of control to the most oppressive regimes, stating that the government\u2019s actions reflect rising fascism.
\nStanding in solidarity with journalists, Saif reiterated his opposition to the laws, stressing that the government\u2019s primary focus is preserving its own power rather than serving the nation.
\nHe also highlighted the damage done to the country\u2019s stability, blaming the government for sinking the nation\u2019s ship in just one year.
\nBarrister Saif calls on JI senior leaders to discuss political situation
\nAdvisor to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif met with Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leaders Liaqat Baloch and Amir-ul-Azeem at the party\u2019s headquarters in Mansoora, following directions from PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
\nDuring the meeting, senior politician Muhammad Ali Durani and other prominent JI leaders were also present, said an official handout.
\nThe discussions focused on the current political situation of the country. Barrister Saif also conveyed a special message from the PTI leadership to JI leaders.
\nMr Saif praised JI\u2019s ongoing efforts for public relief and expressed gratitude for the party\u2019s recent statement regarding the safeguarding of the public mandate.
\nHe conveyed that both Imran Khan and Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur sent their best wishes to the JI leadership.
\nBarrister Saif stated that Imran Khan had directed him to consult with national political parties to establish a common political agenda.
\nLiaqat Baloch, JI \u2018s Deputy Chief, thanked the PTI leadership for their good wishes and emphasized the public\u2019s desire for genuine relief from inflation.
\nAdditionally, Barrister Saif briefed the leaders of the Jammat on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government\u2019s efforts to combat terrorism and maintain peace in the province.
