\nThe Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (ETEA) has successfully conducted the first-ever Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the award of scholarships to students of 6th and 7th grades from government schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). This landmark initiative reflects the commitment of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa towards ensuring a fair, transparent, and technologically advanced examination system.
\nThe scholarship program is aimed at providing talented students with fully funded education up to the 12th grade in leading educational institutions across the province. The computer-based tests were conducted from January 11 to January 27, 2025, covering all districts of KP smoothly and efficiently.
\nAs per official data, a total of 13,251 students applied for 506 available seats across the province. Out of these, 12,104 students appeared for the test, whereas 1,147 remained absent. The examination results indicate that 3,152 students successfully passed, while 8,939 students did not qualify. Additionally, 13 candidates were found using unfair means and have been reported for disciplinary action in strict accordance with ETEA regulations.
\nThe data further reveals that out of the 12,104 students who appeared for the test, 9,902 were boys and 2,202 were girls. The passing percentage for male candidates stood at 26.8%, while female candidates recorded a passing percentage of 22.6%. Notably, in previous examinations, the overall passing percentage was only 10%. The introduction of the CBT has led to a significant improvement in the passing rate and has also enhanced the accuracy and efficiency of result compilation, enabling ETEA to announce results within 24 hours of test completion.
\nPreviously, the scholarship test was conducted through traditional paper-based methods, which raised serious concerns regarding transparency, fairness, and efficiency. Manual testing left room for human error, delays in result compilation, and potential malpractices. However, with the adoption of CBT, ETEA has successfully addressed these challenges. The new system ensures a standardized, tamper-proof examination process, minimizing the possibility of unfair means and favoritism. Furthermore, the automated result-processing mechanism has significantly reduced errors and expedited the result announcement, setting a new benchmark for transparency in the examination system. Notably, three students achieved an outstanding performance by scoring 99 marks, which highlights the effectiveness of the new system in identifying and rewarding top talent.
\nThis initiative has been widely welcomed by students, parents, and teachers, who have expressed their appreciation for the modernized testing system. They believe that the new system will ensure transparency, curb malpractices, and promote a merit-based examination process.
