\nThe 20-day National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) – Higher Education Commission (HEC) training program concluded successfully at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST).
\nOrganized under the leadership of Dr. Ibrar Khan, Director Training, AUST, the training aimed to enhance faculty competencies in pedagogy, academic planning, research, and higher education administration. Conducted in collaboration with NAHE-HEC Islamabad, the program, which ran from January 14 to February 7, 2025, provided university teachers with modern teaching methodologies, research development strategies, and policy orientation.
\nDuring the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mujaddad Ur Rehman, Vice Chancellor, AUST, appreciated NAHE-HEC for providing this valuable opportunity to faculty members, enabling them to refine their teaching and administrative skills.
\nHe emphasized the importance of such faculty development initiatives in uplifting the quality of higher education in Pakistan. He also commended Dr. Ibrar Khan for his dedicated efforts in organizing a successful training program that will significantly impact the academic excellence of AUST.
\nThe training featured sessions by renowned scholars on various topics, including Teaching as a Profession in Higher Education (Dr. Shahwali Khan, IM Sciences, Peshawar), Academic Planning & Implementation (Dr. Saadia Andleeb, NUST), Psychological Well-being of Higher Education Teachers and Learners (Dr. Syeda Farhana Jahangir, University of Peshawar), Communication Skills for Higher Education (Dr. Akifa Imtiaz, FJWU, Rawalpindi), and Technology Integrations in Higher Education Teaching (Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan Babar, VC, UET, Taxila).
\nOther key sessions included Higher Educational Administration and Management (Dr. Mansoor Akbar Kundi, IIU, Islamabad), Research & Development (Dr. Naveed-Ur-Rehman Khattak, Air University, Islamabad), Assessment & Evaluation in Higher Education Teaching (Dr. Muhammad Naseer ud Din, VC, KUST, Kohat), and Microteaching \/ Teaching Practicum (Dr. Malik Ghulam Behlol, FJWU, Rawalpindi).
\nA significant highlight of the training was the HEC Policies Orientation, where Dr. Hadayatullah Kasi, Deputy Director Curriculum, HEC Pakistan, and Dr. Abaidullah Anwar, Deputy Director QA, HEC Pakistan, provided an in-depth overview of undergraduate and postgraduate education policies.
\nTheir session focused on the latest curriculum reforms, quality assurance measures, and accreditation standards, ensuring that faculty members are well-equipped to align their teaching and administrative practices with HEC\u2019s evolving policies.
