\nA committee formed by the provincial cabinet to improve legislative effectiveness in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa convened here on Tuesday.
\nThe meeting focused on proposed amendments to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sentencing Act 2021 and the establishment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sentencing Council, aimed at refining sentencing procedures.
\nAccording to an official handout, the discussions were also held on amendments to the Universal Health Coverage Act 2022 to enhance healthcare service delivery in the province.
\nOfficials emphasized that these legislative improvements would strengthen the justice system and expand access to quality healthcare.
\nThe meeting was chaired by KP\u2019s Minister for Law, Aftab Alam Advocate. Committee members, including Advisor for Finance and Inter-Provincial Coordination, Muzzammil Aslam, and Advisor for Anti-Corruption, Brigadier (R) Musaddiq Abbasi, also attended the session. Advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shah Faisal Utmankhel, was also present.
\nThe meeting was attended by Secretary Information & Public Relations, Arshad Khan, Secretary Law, Saeed Ahmad Turk, Secretary Board of Revenue, Muhammad Irshad, Secretary Health, Shahidullah Khan, CEO Social Health Protection Initiative, Dr. Riaz Tanoli, along with senior officials from the Home Department, Law Department, and other relevant departments.
\nThe participants emphasized that effective legislation ensures a well-organized and transparent governance system, which helps define the provincial government\u2019s powers and responsibilities.
