\nSarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded the chamber\u2019 representation in a provincial government-formed committee for the proposed traffic management plan, removal of encroachment and waste management to remove grievances and apprehensions of traders\u2019 community.
\nThe demand was made by SCCI president Fazal Moqeem Khan during a consultative session on proposed traffic management plan, removal of encroachment and waste management in the city, which was jointly organized by the chamber, DC Office and WSSCP, held at the chamber house.
\nSCCI senior vice president Abdul Jalil Jan, vice president Shehyar Khan, Chairman, the chamber standing committee on Law and Order Shaukat Ali Khan, former presidents Maqsood Anwar Pervez, Zulfiqar Ali Khan, former SVP Sanaullah Khan, former vice president Javed Akhtar, members of the executive committee Nadeem Rauf, Aftab Iqbal, Ashfaq Ahmad, Saifullah Khan, Mujeebur Rehman, Gul Zaman, Sultan Muhammad, President, SIE Association Kohat Road Peshawar Wahid Arif Awan and Iqbal Sikandar, Faiz Rasool, Saddar Gul, Fazal e Wahid, Ihsanullah, Habibullah Zahid, Asghar Khan, Feroz Shah, Secretary General Muqtasid Ahsan and traders, shopkeepers and industrialists.
\nAC Headquarters Peshawar Aamir Shahzad through his multimedia presentation briefed the business community regarding the proposed traffic management plan and sought suggestions from traders to further improve the plan.
\nSenior official apprised that the proposed plan will be put before the chief minister very shortly, before that consultation with the business community is being carried out to furnish the plan by removing all reservations of relevant stakeholders and today\u2019s session is part of this effort.
\nMoqeem assured that they will fully cooperate to dismantle illegal structures in the city.
\nHe, however, made it clear that demolition of legal\/privately owned properties, markets, shops and plazas on the pretext of removing encroachment won\u2019t be acceptable.
\nThe SCCI chief asserted that the government should further modify the proposed traffic management plan by taking further input from traders and incorporate the traders\u2019 proposals in this regard.
\nShaukat Ali Khan appreciated the government\u2019s decision to introduce a comprehensive traffic management plan and assured the traders\u2019 community fully cooperate in implementation of the plan.
\nHe vociferously said that they will strongly resist any move to snatch morsel from the mouth of traders and dismantle their legally owned properties, shops, markets and plazas on pretext of removing encroachment.
\nSenior leader said traders are already being faced with hardships under the prevailing circumstances.
\nTherefore, he urged the provincial government and authorities concerned to avoid taking such initiatives that will further compound miseries of the business community and cause gulf and collision between the authorities and traders as well.
\nEarlier, the former presidents Zulfiqar Ali Khan, Engr Maqsood Anwar Pervez, Wahid Arif Awan and executive members also spoke on the occasion and gave a number of proposals for further improvement and modification into the proposed traffic management plan.
