ISLAMABAD
\nThe International World Games Association (IWGA) on Monday said that the 2nd edition of The World Games Series (TWGS) will take place in Chengdu, China, from 28 -30 March at the Chengdu Sport University Sancha Lake Campus.
\nAfter the successful inaugural event, in Hong Kong, China, in October 2024, TWG Series continues to bring world-class athletes together, offering them additional international exposure , the IWGA said in a press release.
\nThis event will serve as one of the qualifiers for The World Games 2025, offering coveted spots in three featured sports.
\nUnderwater (World Underwater Federation, CMAS), Life Saving (International Life Saving Federation, ILS) and Boules Sports (World P\u00e9tanque and Boules Federation, WPBF) will feature in the three-day programme.
\nA total of 128 athletes will compete, achieving full gender parity.
\n 64 in Underwater (Finswimming: 24 men, 24 women; Freediving 8 men, 8 women)
\n 48 in Life Saving (24 men, 24 women)
\n16 in Boules Sports (8 men, 8 women)
\nWith qualification spots up for grabs, the stakes have never been higher, and the performances are expected to set the stage for an unforgettable edition of The World Games later this year, from 7-17 August.
\nAll events will be qualifier for The World Games 2025.
\nQuota places for TWG 2025 will be allocated following this second leg, as follows:
\nBoules Sports:
\nP\u00e9tanque (discipline), Precision shooting (event): 2 places in total: 1 man, 1 woman
\nLife Saving:
\n The 3 participating Chinese athletes will qualify for TWG 2025
\nUnderwater:
\nIn Finswimming: the races\u2019 winners will qualify if they haven\u2019t qualified so far. Up to 12 spots will be up for grabs but the total number of qualifications will likely be 1 or 2.
\n 4 places in Freediving: 2 athletes per gender
\nThe Chengdu Sport University Sancha Lake Campus, the venue for TWG Series #2, will also host The World Games 2025. As such, the TWG Series will act as a real-life test event, allowing organisers and the participating International Federations to assess operations, functionalities, and fine-tune preparations for the main event.
