\nA suicide blast at the Jamia Masjid of Darul Uloom Haqqania Akora Khattak in Nowshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, claimed the lives of eight individuals, including Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, head of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (S), and injured 20 others.
\nAccording to Rescue 1122, their control room received information about the explosion at the Haqqania Madrasa. Rescue teams, including six ambulances, medical personnel, and a fire unit, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
\n The explosion occurred in the mosque\u2019s main hall following Friday prayers, according to police.
\nInspector General Police (IGP) Zulfiqar Hameed confirmed to media persons that Maulana Hamidul Haq, son of Maulana Sami-ul-Haq Haqqani, was the target of the suicide attack.
\n DPO Nowshera Abdul Rashid stated that the explosion was a suicide attack.
\n\u201cFollowing the incident, the police cordoned off the area, and a search operation was launched in the surroundings. Forensic and investigation teams were dispatched to the scene,\u201d he added.
\nDeputy Commissioner Nowshera has said that in response to the attack, an emergency was imposed in all medical facilities in the district.
\n Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) in Peshawar issued an emergency alert to prepare for incoming victims.
\nHospital spokesperson Muhammad Asim assured that the administration and medical staff were on high alert and fully prepared to treat the injured.
\nHowever, as of now, no injured or deceased have been shifted to LRH.
\nIGP Zulfiqar Hameed stated that a special investigation team has been formed to probe the incident, claiming that Maulana Hamidul Haq had not reported any prior threats.
\nHe also confirmed that 23 police personnel were deployed at the location at the time of the blast. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was reviewing CCTV footage as part of the investigation, he added.
\nKP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur strongly condemned the attack, calling it a tragic and deplorable act. He directed authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a comprehensive report.
\nHe also instructed officials to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured.
\n\u201cTargeting innocent people in a place of worship is an inhumane act,\u201d Gandapur stated, adding that no words were enough to condemn such an attack.
\nHe emphasized that all available resources should be utilized to bring the perpetrators to justice.
\nAs of now, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack.
\nMaulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, born in 1968, was a member of a renowned religious and scholarly family in Pakistan. He graduated from Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania, Akora Khattak, in 1992 and dedicated more than three decades of his life to Islamic teaching.
\nHis father, Maulana Samiul Haq, was a religious, scholarly, and political figure in Pakistan.
\nAs the successor to his father, Maulana Abdul Haq, Maulana Samiul Haq also served as the founder of the country\u2019s prominent religious institution, Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania. He was martyred on November 2, 2018.
\nFollowing Maulana Samiul Haq\u2019s martyrdom, his younger brother, Maulana Anwarul Haq, was appointed as the head of Jamia Darul Uloom Haqqania, while Maulana Hamidul Haq continued to serve in key religious and political roles.
