\nPakistan\u2019s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram has said proscribed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is acting as an umbrella for terrorist groups
\nSpeaking at a UN Security Council meeting on Afghanistan here on Monday, Akram held that the Afghan interim government has failed to effectively address the threats facing region and global peace.
\n\u201cWe have evidence that the Kabul authorities have not only tolerated but are complicit in the conduct of the TTP\u2019s terrorist cross-border attacks,\u201d he said.
\nThe envoy explained that the TTP, the largest terrorist outfit operating from Afghanistan, is launching attacks on Pakistan from safe havens along the border. \u201cThe TTP, perceived as enjoying Kabul\u2019s patronage, is fast emerging as an umbrella organization for regional terrorist groups whose objectives are to undermine the security and stability of Afghanistan\u2019s neighbours,\u201d he added.
\nAkram also noted that these attacks have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives. He highlighted complicity of TTP with the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and the Majeed Brigade in an effort to destabilize the country and undermine Pakistan-China Economic Corridor (CPEC). He warned that Pakistan would take all necessary actions to counter these terrorist threats.
\nAkram pointed out that more than 20 terrorist organisations operating from Afghan soil pose significant threats to regional and global security. He announced that Pakistan would begin consultations with the United Nations to determine an appropriate response, including the establishment of a working group on counter-terrorism under the Doha Process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
