\n750 kg of substandard and contaminated tamarind confiscated; expired flavors, chips, Nutella, and chocolates recovered, bakery warehouse sealed, heavy fines imposed: KP Food Authority Officials
\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety & Halal Food Authority continues its province-wide crackdown against adulteration and substandard food. During recent operations, a significant quantity of adulterated and low-quality food items was seized across multiple districts.
\nAccording to the details issued by KP Food Authority spokesperson, raids were carried out in Peshawar Cantt, Haripur, and Mardan, targeting businesses involved in selling substandard and adulterated food products.
\nIn Peshawar Cantt\u2019s RA Bazaar, inspections were conducted by food safety team under the supervision of Director Operations Akhtar Nawaz in collaboration with the district administration.
\nThe Mobile Food Testing Laboratory was used to test samples of milk, cooking oil used in fritters (pakoray), and samosa. Upon confirmation of milk adulteration and substandard oil quality, legal action was initiated against the violators.
\nFurthermore, in Khwaja Ganj Bazaar, Mardan , district food safety team raided a wholesale supplier and confiscated 750 kg of substandard and contaminated tamarind imported from Karachi. The violator was fined heavily for violating food safety regulations.
\nSimilarly, in Haripur, inspections were conducted at various bakery units along GT Road. A warehouse was found storing large quantities of expired flavors, chips, Nutella, and chocolates, leading to its immediate sealing.
\nDirector General KP Food Authority, Wasif Saeed lauded the teams for successful operations and stated that the crackdown against food adulteration across the province will continue, and no compromise will be made on public health.
\nMeanwhile, Minister for Food Zahir Shah Toru, affirmed that strict legal actions would be taken against individuals involved in the sale of substandard food to ensure the provision of safe and quality food for the public<\/p>\n
