\nThe Bahali Welfare Organization on Wednesday condemned the ongoing unilateral operation in Lower Kurram, demanding its immediate cessation and justice for the people of Bagan, whose town was allegedly set on fire by miscreants. uring a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, organization leaders, including President Khayali Orakzai, Chairman Nawroz Khan Orakzai, and Mufti Shahnawaz, voiced their concerns, saying that such operations would only escalate tensions rather than resolve conflicts.
\nThe speakers alleged that one-sided actions by security forces were forcing innocent residents out of their homes in Bagan, Ochat, Mandori, and Charkhel. They claimed that the government had launched a fresh operation targeting only one group while ignoring attacks on Bagan by rival factions. They criticized the authorities for failing to take action against those who previously set fire to Bagan Bazar and forcibly removed weapons from the area\u2019s residents. The organization also accused the government of ignoring the recommendations of the Kohat Grand Jirga, which had proposed a fair investigation into any security incidents along the main roads. Instead of following due process, they claimed, security forces were forcefully evicting people without any prior inquiry or negotiation.
\nSpeakers highlighted past incidents where homes in Central Kurram\u2019s Kundali Baba area were destroyed under the pretext of a search operation.
\nThey alleged that similar operations had previously displaced residents of 62 villages in Kurram, none of which have been rehabilitated. Now, they fear the same fate awaits Bagan, Ochat, Mandori, and Charkhel. The organization further criticized the security policies in Parachinar, where local armed groups allegedly control the city, while law enforcement remains passive.
\nThey pointed out that previous attacks on security checkpoints in Parachinar had gone unpunished, raising concerns over biased enforcement of the law.
\nExpressing their frustration, the speakers said that tribal families were being humiliated and displaced during Ramadan.
\nThey warned that if the evictions did not stop, they would stage a protest with women and children on the roads of Peshawar, setting up tents in defiance. The Bahali Welfare Organization demanded an immediate halt to the forced displacement in Lower Kurram and called for justice for Bagan\u2019s residents.
