\nFederal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal on Wednesday urged the Pakistani business community in Saudi Arabia to play an active role in further enhancing trade relations with the Kingdom.
\n\u201cThese increased economic contacts provide a solid foundation for bilateral relations between nations,\u201d he said while addressing a reception hosted by the Pakistani business community in Jeddah.
\nAhsan Iqbal outlined the key elements of the 5Es framework under the \u2018URAAN PAKISTAN\u2019 initiative, which serves as a unifying roadmap aimed at transforming Pakistan into a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047.
\nHe expressed confidence that this program would provide a sustainable and long-lasting foundation for the country\u2019s development.
\nThe minister stressed the need for an economic \u201clong march\u201d free from political turmoil to achieve national development goals, saying there was no room for any form of political or economic crisis.
\nAhsan Iqbal highlighted that increasing exports was central to the five-point agenda of the URAAN PAKISTAN initiative, stressing that the country\u2019s economic independence depended on its ability to generate dollars.
\nHe commended the current government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for implementing prudent economic policies that have positioned the national economy for growth.
\nHe called upon all Pakistanis to fully commit to the success of the URAAN PAKISTAN initiative, describing Overseas Pakistanis as the \u201cgreatest asset\u201d of the nation.
\nHe also noted that the world was rapidly evolving due to technological advancements, and Pakistan must keep pace to remain competitive in the modern era. \u201cURAAN PAKISTAN will connect the country\u2019s economy with cutting-edge technology,\u201d he added.
\nAhsan Iqbal stressed the importance of unity, solidarity and harmony within the nation for national development.
\nHe lamented that some politicians had tarnished the country\u2019s image by portraying Pakistanis as thieves and robbers for personal gain, in contrast to the true identity of the nation \u2013 hardworking and intelligent people. \u201cWe must prove the strength of the Pakistani brand to the world through hard work, intelligence, honesty, and high quality,\u201d he said.
\nHe further explained that Pakistan\u2019s struggles stemmed from political uncertainty, a lack of policy continuity and instability. \u201cAs a nation, we must learn from our mistakes and prevent instability from arising again,\u201d he urged. The minister pointed out that Pakistan was blessed with minerals worth trillions of dollars, and the government has already initiated several projects in Balochistan aimed at transforming it into the most developed and prosperous province of the country.
\nBesides, he said, the government has launched a program to train 200,000 youth annually in IT, and 1,000 agricultural experts were being sent to China for training in modern agricultural systems. \u201cWe are determined to make Pakistan a trillion-dollar economy by 2035.
