\nPunjab has announced its first-ever Talent Hunt Programme aimed at identifying and promoting young athletes across the province.
\nChief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a comprehensive plan for the Punjab Talent Hunt Programme, which aims to provide opportunities for youth to showcase their abilities, including equal support for women athletes.
\n\u201cWe will ensure young athletes in Punjab have full opportunities to display their talent,\u201d the chief minister said. \u201cWomen athletes will be given equal chances to move forward.\u201d
\nIn addition, a youth internship programme has been approved in principle, with Maryam Nawaz directing relevant departments to present a detailed proposal.
\nThe chief minister also instructed the Sports Department to take steps towards financial autonomy and ensure there are no delays in salary disbursements for department employees.
\n\u201cThese initiatives will not only empower the youth but also strengthen institutional capacity in Punjab\u2019s sports sector,\u201d she added.
\nCM stresses role of sports in promoting peace, development
\nPunjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has emphasized the crucial role of sports in fostering peace, development, and social progress.
\nIn her message on International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the CM highlighted that the day serves to promote the positive impact of sports in society.
\nThe CM stated, \u201cInternational Day of Sport for Development and Peace aims to raise awareness about the importance of sports in our communities and its contribution to peace.\u201d The chief minister emphasized the government\u2019s commitment to providing equal sports opportunities to all individuals, including youth, senior citizens, differently-abled people, and those from underdeveloped areas. \u201cSports events pave the way for peace and development within society,\u201d she said, adding that promoting social development and peace within communities was the core essence of celebrating this day.
\nShe further noted that peace and sports are inseparable. Where there is peace, there will be sports, and where there is sports, there will be peace. Highlighting the role of sports in youth development, she mentioned, \u201cSports play a vital role in nurturing teamwork, competition, and resilience among youth.\u201d
\nThe CM pointed out the steps taken by the Punjab government to promote sports in the province, including the launch of the \u201cKhailta Punjab\u201d program, aimed at increasing participation in sports. \u201cThe Pink Games in Punjab symbolize peace and equal development,\u201d she added.
\nCM Maryam Nawaz assured that the government was constructing new sports grounds and gyms to facilitate the youth. \u201cWe are working on the creation of 300 new sports grounds and sports complexes across Punjab,\u201d she said, emphasizing that these projects would provide opportunities for all.
