\nThe President of the Mineral Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Muhammad Afsar, expressed strong objections to the Mines and Minerals Amendment Bill 2025, rejecting it after its presentation in the provincial assembly without addressing concerns raised by stakeholders.
\nSpeaking at a seminar organized by the association at the Peshawar Press Club, Afsar highlighted that despite earlier assurances from Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, the bill was introduced without incorporating the association\u2019s reservations.
\nAfsar criticized the lack of transparency and consultation, stating that the new bill, which replaces the 2017 Mineral Act, was presented without adequate discussion with the concerned parties.
\nHe further described the situation as a form of \u201ccolonialism,\u201d where one side imposed legislation without consulting the other.
\nThe association called for the formation of a committee involving all stakeholders, including police and bureaucrats, to reach consensus before proceeding with the bill.
\nThe General Secretary, Syed Abdul Rauf Shah, urged parliamentarians to address the reservations of the mineral industry, warning that failure to do so would result in the bill being declared void. He also emphasized the economic implications, noting rising unemployment and law and order challenges in the province.
\nThe association has urged the public and lawmakers of the provincial assembly to unite in opposing the bill until stakeholders are given a fair chance to review and agree upon its contents.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
