\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet on Thursday approved funding to provide free textbooks for students in government schools. Furthermore, a plan for the standard printing and reuse of these books was directed to be prepared and presented at the next cabinet meeting.
\nWhile presiding over the meeting, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur cabinet, in principle, decided to offer free boarding facilities to children enrolled in government schools in the upcoming academic year.
\nA detailed plan will be presented at the next cabinet meeting.
\nThe meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, additional chief secretaries, the Senior Member of the Board of Revenue, and the Advocate General of KP.
\nSeveral significant decisions were made during the meeting, covering a wide range of sectors including education, health, infrastructure, and governance.
\nThe cabinet expressed concern over the large number of children deprived of education and discussed the formulation of a strategy to address this issue.
\nThe cabinet approved an increase in the annual fund for Parent Teacher Councils from Rs 5 billion to Rs 7 billion, with instructions to ensure effective utilization of the fund.
\nThe cabinet approved the inclusion of free transplant and implant services under the health card program. The government will cover the costs for kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplants, as well as cochlear implants.
\nIn the next phase of the health card program, the government will also include services for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
\nThe cabinet approved regulations for the use of cannabis for medical treatment, research, and industrial purposes.
\nA non-ADP scheme was approved for the construction of the Peshawar Ring Road, linking Warsak to Nasir Bagh.
\nThe cabinet approved a water supply project to provide drinking water to Peshawar from the Mohmand Dam project was also approved in the meeting.
\nRs 3.6 billion was approved for the phased procurement of sanitation machinery to enhance services in 132 Tehsil Municipal Administrations across the province.
\nThe cabinet approved the Apprenticeship Rules, which will provide technical skills training to youth, particularly in factory settings, as part of efforts to enhance employability.
\nThe cabinet approved an increase in the grant allocated to religious schools from Rs 30 million to Rs 100 million.
\nThe cabinet approved the establishment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government Servants Housing Foundation to facilitate housing for government employees.
