\nA delegation of Senators led by Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Housing, Senator Nasir Mahmood Butt, met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House here on Thursday and discussed strategies for affordable housing development in the province.
\nThe delegation included Senator Aslam Abro, Senator Husna Bano, and Senator Khalida Ateeb. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on housing-related issues, ongoing development projects, and future strategies.
\nGovernor Faisal Karim Kundi warmly welcomed the delegation and highlighted the challenges faced by the housing sector in the province. He emphasized that providing affordable and quality housing to the public is his top priority. The Governor urged the federal government to increase facilities and provide housing subsidies for non-local employees working in federal departments in Peshawar, who are currently facing significant hardships.
\nHe also called for the expansion of housing projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and increased support from the federal government to ensure effective implementation of residential schemes, particularly in remote and underdeveloped areas of the province.
\nGovernor Kundi stressed the need for close cooperation between federal and provincial institutions to ensure sustainable development in the housing sector.
\nHe also underlined the importance of extending housing facilities beyond urban centers to include rural and less developed areas.
\nSenator Nasir Mahmood Butt assured that the Senate Standing Committee is actively working across the country to address housing issues and strengthen policy-making. He also briefed the Governor on the committee\u2019s recent performance and future goals.
\nFollowing the meeting, the delegation was given a tour of various sections of the Governor House.
\nKPPSC, Commercial Audit annual reports presented to Governor
\nChairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission (KPPSC), Captain (Retired) Munir Azam, met with Governor Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor\u2019s House on Thursday and presented the KPPSC Annual Report for the year 2024.
\nAccording to report, the Commission received recruitment requests for 1,187 vacant posts from various provincial departments. During 2024, KPPSC advertised a total of 1,691 vacancies, receiving applications from 39,225 candidates. After conducting tests and interviews, the Commission recommended 992 candidates for appointment to various departments.
\nThe report also highlighted that the KPPSC conducted 115 qualification tests during the year and recommended 85 Provincial Management Service (PMS) officers to the provincial government based on the results of the competitive examination.
\nChairman Munir Azam informed the Governor that the Commission is working on an electronic shortlisting system as part of the online application process. He said that the implementation of this technology would enhance the efficiency and speed of the recruitment process.
\nGovernor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the overall performance of the KP Public Service Commission, calling it a trustworthy constitutional institution.
\nHe emphasized the importance of selecting competent and deserving candidates purely on merit.
\n\u201cKhyber Pakhtunkhwa is full of capable and educated talent,\u201d he said, stressing the need for greater transparency in both competitive exams and general recruitment processes.
\nMeanwhile, Director Commercial Audit Sarfaraz Hussain Ansari called on Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, and presented the audit report for the year 2024-25 related to public sector enterprises in the province.
\nThe audit report includes financial assessments of several key institutions such as the Forest Development Corporation, Small Industries Development Board, KP EZMIC, and TEVTA Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nPrepared by the Auditor General of Pakistan, the report focuses on ensuring financial transparency and accountability in these public sector organizations.
\nThe Governor was informed that the audit reports of 12 different institutions contain nearly 700 audit paras, many of which are pending discussion due to delays in convening Public Accounts Committee (PAC) meetings.
\nOn this occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized the importance of fully implementing the recommendations provided in audit reports.
