\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Standing Committee on Industries and Technical Education, in its meeting held on Tuesday, constituted a sub-committee to investigate environmental issues reportedly caused by the Lucky Cement Factory in district Lakki Marwat.
\nThe meeting of the committee was held at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat under the chairmanship of MPA Iftikhar Ali Mashwani.
\nThe meeting focused on a range of industrial issues, with particular attention given to concerns raised regarding the Lucky Cement Factory by the elected member of the provincial assembly from Lakki Marwat. In response, the committee formed a sub-committee tasked with visiting the area in question to thoroughly investigate the matter from all angles and work towards a resolution.
\nThe session was attended by other committee members, MPAs, Secretary of Industries and Technical Education Aamir Afaq, officials from the department and its subordinate institutions, officers of the Provincial Assembly, and representatives from other relevant departments. The President and members of the Abbottabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry also participated.
\nThe committee reviewed several agenda items and made key decisions. Among the issues discussed were matters arising from the committee\u2019s recent visit to the Abbottabad One-O-Two Industrial Estates.
\nIn this regard, a committee was constituted including representatives from the law, irrigation, environmental protection agency, and local administration. This body will conduct field visits and present its report within 15 days. The committee directed the Deputy Commissioner of Buner, relevant officials from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company, and local MPAs to attend the next meeting to facilitate a detailed review.
\nDuring the meeting, concerns about environmental pollution caused by crushing plants in Abbottabad were raised. The committee was informed that four crushing plants had already been sealed, while one is currently protected by a stay order. Legal efforts are underway to have the stay order lifted.
