Gandapur says 2024 polls rigged to impose selected politicians, not elected representatives

\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Thursday alleged that the country\u2019s decision-makers prefer \u201cslaves, not leaders\u201d and are bent on suppressing democratic voices.
\nAddressing the Lahore High Court Bar, he said the 2024 general elections were rigged to impose \u2018selected, not elected, individuals\u2019.
\nGandapur claimed that Pakistan\u2019s political decline began the moment people were forced into power.
\n\u201cSince that day, the Constitution has been broken, martial laws have been imposed, and public will has been trampled,\u201d he said, recalling the execution of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
\n\u201cThe nation still asks: what punishment was given to those who hanged Bhutto?\u201d
\nThe chief minister said that the country has lost both sovereignty and self-respect. \u201cWe are no longer free \u2014 our leaders, our provinces, our people \u2014 all are enslaved,\u201d he said, adding that this loss of independence is why Pakistan cannot openly speak for oppressed Muslims in other parts of the world.
\nHe said the 2024 elections were clear proof that those in power desire full control. \u201cIf you want to run and dismiss governments at will, then why do you have assemblies and constitutions?\u201d he asked. \u201cYou\u2019re the judge, the lawyer, and the plaintiff \u2014 that\u2019s no way to run a country.\u201d
\nGandapur asserted that the founder of PTI is imprisoned because he threatens the status quo. \u201cHe talks about the rule of law, supremacy of the Constitution, human rights, and national dignity. That\u2019s his real crime,\u201d Gandapur said.
\nHe added that the PTI founder is willing to hold talks, not for personal power, but for the sake of Pakistan. \u201cOur struggle is ongoing, and it will continue. The more you try to silence us, the louder we will rise,\u201d he said. He also alleged that 14 of their supporters were martyred, while the leader, his wife, and workers remain behind bars.
\nSpeaking on governance in KP, Gandapur said the province has successfully curbed corruption and amassed significant funds. \u201cKhyber Pakhtunkhwa is the richest province,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
