\nPresident of the All Torkham Border Customs Clearing Agents Association president Mujeeb Shinwari met with Afghanistan\u2019s minister for commerce, Nooruddin Azizi at his office in Islamabad and discussed various issues related to cross-border trade and customs clearance at the Torkham border on Friday.
\nDuring the meeting, Haji Mujeeb Shinwari briefed the Afghan minister on the challenges faced by customs clearing agents, traders and transporters at the Torkham crossing. He highlighted the delays and difficulties in vehicle clearance from both on the Pakistani and Afghan sides, which have been affecting the smooth flow of bilateral trade.
\nThe discussion focused on finding practical solutions to streamline customs procedures and facilitate trade through the Torkham border. Both sides acknowledged the importance of the Torkham crossing as a vital trade route between Pakistan and Afghanistan and expressed their commitment to improving import-export activities.
\nAfghanistan\u2019s minister Nooruddin Azizi assured Mujeeb Shinwari that the Afghan government taking the issues seriously and would implement practical measures to address the concerns raised. He stressed the importance of bilateral cooperation and dialogue in resolving trade-related problems and ensuring smoother operations at the border.
\nThe meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to strengthen coordination between both countries and to continue efforts for enhancing trade ties and overcoming border-related challenges through peaceful and constructive engagement.
\nAfghan delegation visits FPCCI Office: A high-level delegation from the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI), led by Chairman Haji Younas Mohmand and Khan Jan Alokozai, along with senior members of the Pakistan Borders Trade Council, visited the office of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in Islamabad.
\nThe delegation was warmly received by FPCCI president Atif Ikram Sheikh. During their meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral trade, resolve issues related to cross-border trade, improve transit trade mechanisms, and advance the Pakistan-Afghanistan Preferential Trade Agreement.
\nThe Afghan delegation was accompanied by FPCCI Deputy Convener Syed Ali Hammad Kazmi. Also present at the meeting were Haji Muhammad Yousaf Afridi (President of Khyber Chamber of Commerce and Industry), Senior Vice President Wajid Ali, Vice President Haji Iqbal Khan Shinwari, Haji Qadeerullah Wazir (President of Waziristan Chamber of Commerce), Haji Subhanullah (Group Leader of Kurram Chamber of Commerce), Junaid Makda (President of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce), senior leader of the Pakistan Borders Trade Council Muhammad Haroon, and several other business figures engaged in Pakistan-Afghanistan trade.
\nAtif Ikram Sheikh assured the Afghan delegation of FPCCI\u2019s full support in resolving the challenges faced by traders and committed to raising the issues at higher government forums. He also acknowledged the efforts of Syed Jawad Hussain Kazmi (UBG leader and Khyber Chamber Group Leader), Haji Younas Mohmand, and his team for their vital role in easing tensions at the Torkham border during the holy month of Ramadan and helping to restore trade activities.
