\nPESHAWAR
\nA five-day anti-polio campaign was formally inaugurated at Police Services Hospital Peshawar, starting April 21, with top provincial leadership reaffirming their commitment to eradicating the disease.
\nChief Minister\u2019s Advisor on Health Ihtesham Ali, Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Pakhtun Yar Khan, and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahab Ali Shah administered polio drops to children, officially launching the campaign.
\nThey urged parents to fully cooperate with frontline health workers and ensure all children under five receive the polio vaccine.
\nCM aide on health Ihtesham Ali shared that over 6.537 million children will be vaccinated during the campaign by 35,460 trained teams. Nearly 50,000 security personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of polio workers.
\nChief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah highlighted the government\u2019s comprehensive efforts to tackle challenges in polio eradication and lauded the dedication of polio workers and law enforcement personnel.
\nOfficials from the Health Department, Emergency Operations Center, WHO, and UNICEF also attended the launch. The campaign includes targeted strategies such as biker teams, ring vaccination, health camps, and integrated service delivery, especially in southern KP regions.
