\nDespite the unfavorable situation and limited resources,education authoities in district Khyber claimed to have successfully enrolled 10,000 students so far, taking a significant step toward restoring education in the militancy suffered district.
\nEnrolment awareness seminar was held on Saturday at Government High school Hashim Abad which was attended by a large number of parents, elders, teachers, students and officials.
\nSpeakers including principal Abdur Rehman Afridi, assistant subdivisional education officer Adil Nawaz Afridi and addtional assistant commisioner Naseer Abbas said that around 61,000 children still out of school in district Khyber. They said a target has set up of 15,000 children to enrol in the first phase of the drive this year.
\nSub-divisional education officer Muhammad Wajid Afridi, teachers,parents and local elders also participated in the event. Addtional assistant commissioner Naseer Abbas and education officer Adil Nawaz Afridi formally enrolled a number of children during the event, urging parents, teachers and local communities to support the initiative.
\n\u201cEducation is not just a right, it\u2019s our strongest shield against ignorance and violence,\u201d . \u201cEvery child in school is a step toward a safer future.\u201dsaid Adil Nawaz Afridi.
\nKhyber district is one the militancy-hit area of Pakistan witnessed years of violence. Militants targeted schools especially girls\u2019 institutions damaging or destroying dozens of state-run school in the past two decads long militancy.
\nOfficials said a large number of children dropped out from schools due to insecurity, displacement and trauma in the past. Naseer Abbas said although peace has largely returned, poverty, cultural barriers and inadequate infrastructure continue to prevent thousands from accessing education.
\nHe emphasized that the target of 15,000 admissions may be surpassed with continued support. He praised the role of teachers, civil administration and community members in reviving hope.
