\nInspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Zulfiqar Hameed on Tuesday lauded the sacrifices made by the police force for peace and security in the Malakand Division, particularly in Swat, and vowed continued reforms and welfare measures to enhance their capabilities and morale.
\nSpeaking at a Police Darbar held at Javed Iqbal Shaheed Police Lines in Swat, the IGP said the restoration of peace in the region was made possible by the tireless efforts and sacrifices of the police.
\n\u201cWe salute the martyrs and express our solidarity with their families,\u201d he said, addressing a large gathering of police officers and personnel from across the Malakand region.
\nThe event was attended by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Sher Akbar Khan, along with district police officers from Swat, Lower Dir, Upper Dir, Chitral, Bajaur, Buner, and other senior officials.
\nIGP Hameed emphasized the need for proactive and community-based policing to root out crime before it takes hold.
\nHe instructed officers to act decisively against criminals and urged junior personnel to perform their duties with integrity and dedication.
\nKP police chief also reiterated that the welfare of the police force remains a top priority. \u201cWe are in talks with the government to raise police salaries, and God willing, police salaries will soon be on par with those in Punjab,\u201d he announced.
\nAddressing concerns raised by personnel, the IGP issued on-the-spot orders for the resolution of promotion-related grievances. In a compassionate gesture, he also announced a grant of Rs 2 million for the medical treatment of a constable\u2019s children, highlighting the department\u2019s commitment to the wellbeing of its personnel.
\nThe police chief revealed that the Police Training School Swat will soon be upgraded to college status, allowing officers from Malakand Division to complete lower-level training locally rather than traveling to Hangu.
\nTo promote physical fitness, IGP Hameed directed the RPO Malakand to establish gyms in all police lines across the division. He also announced a partnership with a leading hospital to provide artificial limbs to disabled veterans, saying that no effort would be spared in supporting those who have suffered injuries in the line of duty.
\nEarlier in the day, the IGP inaugurated a newly constructed Martyrs\u2019 Memorial at Police Line Kabal. \u201cOur martyrs are our pride, and their sacrifices will never be forgotten,\u201d he said. Gifts were distributed to the children of fallen officers in a show of solidarity and remembrance.
