\nSenior Vice President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP), Karachi, and Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Khalid Masood Gondal, paid a visit to Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar.
\nAddressing the faculty at Alexander Fleming Hall, Prof. Dr. Gondal emphasized CPSP\u2019s unwavering commitment to maintaining high standards in medical education and training across the country. He highlighted various academic initiatives launched by CPSP, including a nationwide series of master-level degree workshops.
\nProf. Dr. Gondal shared that currently over 52,000 trainee doctors are being trained under CPSP across 88 disciplines, including 40,000 FCPS and 12,000 MCPS trainees. To facilitate this training, 14 regional centers have been established across the country.
\nHe stated that CPSP firmly believes in self-reliance and that Pakistani doctors are not only in high demand worldwide but are also recognized for their international standard of training. He added that CPSP-trained doctors are serving as medical ambassadors of Pakistan globally. A CPSP center is also being established in Kabul, which will further enhance the institution\u2019s international recognition. He informed the audience that CPSP graduates are delivering world-class healthcare services in the UK, Ireland, the USA, Europe, Australia, and several Middle Eastern countries.
\nEarlier, KMU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq welcomed the distinguished guest and gave him a tour of the under-construction KMU General Hospital. During a briefing, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq informed that specialized departments in gastroenterology, breast cancer, blood cancer, diabetes, and rehabilitation are being established at the hospital.
\nThese facilities will not only provide quality medical services to patients from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and neighboring Afghanistan but will also offer international-standard training opportunities for young postgraduate trainee doctors.
\nThe visit concluded with a mutual commitment to further enhance cooperation between CPSP and KMU to promote medical education, training, and public health through all possible measures on a priority basis. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
