\nThe second high-level meeting to review the ongoing April anti-polio campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Thursday. The meeting noted a significant achievement, with 168,159 more children vaccinated during the April campaign compared to the February round.
\nThe meeting was attended by Secretary Health, the Coordinator of the Provincial Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, District Police Officers, District Health Officers, and officials from the National EOC, who joined via video link.
\nA detailed briefing was presented on campaign statistics, coverage rates, comparative analysis, and challenges encountered during the four-day drive. The Coordinator of the Provincial EOC highlighted that the involvement of local elders and influential community figures, through effective public partnership, had played a key role in boosting campaign success.
\nChief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah informed the participants that he is personally monitoring the campaign daily. He emphasized the importance of regular participation in evening review meetings and directed all Deputy Commissioners and District Health Officers to ensure consistent oversight and performance evaluation.
\nThe meeting also reviewed the status of 276 union councils classified as challenging. Officials shared that the final two days of the campaign had been designated to vaccinate children who were missed during the initial days. A strict monitoring system has been implemented to ensure no child is left unvaccinated.
\nAcknowledging progress, the Chief Secretary noted that there is always room for improvement. He urged district administrations to enhance their micro-planning strategies and conduct a thorough comparative review of the April campaign. Feedback from field teams should be incorporated into planning for future drives, he said.
